چکیده

The East Asian dust storms occur in western and northern China, southern Mongolia every year, particularly spring. In this study, we use satellite aerosol products to demonstrate the spatial temporal variation optical depth (AOD) from MODIS, absorbing index (AAI) TOMS OMI, over main storm source regions (MDSR), investigate their relationship vegetation coverage (NDVI), soil properties (surface moisture content temperature 0–10 cm underground), climatic factors wind speed, air at 2 m above ground, precipitation) spring for period of 2000–2021. Compared with occurrence frequency (DSF) observed surface stations, MODIS AOD, AAI, OMI AAI showed consistent distributions seasonal variations DSF MDSR, correlation coefficients 0.88, 0.55, respectively. results that AOD MDSR decreased during 2000–2005, 2006–2017, 2000–2021, but increased 2017–2021.The improvements together favorable (the increase precipitation decrease speed) resulted decreasing trend entire Conversely, low 2018 2020 were reasons increases 2017–2021. combination effects wind, temperature, moisture, would determine DSF, end, under global climate change.

How different source regions across the Middle East change aerosol and dust particle characteristics

A major question is whether different source regions across the Middle East account for changes in aerosol and dust particle characteristics, which impact Western Iran. Therefore, over a period of sampling from April 2017 to April 2018, dust particles were collected in Western Iran from different cities including Urmia, Sanandaj, Sare-Pole-Zahab, Dehloran and Abadan. The research aim is to comp...

Diurnal variability of dust aerosol optical thickness and Angström exponent over dust source regions in China

[1] Using 22 months of Sunphotometer Aerosol Optical Thickness (AOT) data collected near the Taklamakan and Gobi dust source regions (Dunhuang, 40.09 N, 94.41 E) in China; we examine the diurnal and seasonal change of dust aerosol properties. Most dust events are during the spring through early summer months with a season-invariant diurnal change of more than ±10% for AOTand ±30% for Angström e...

Seasonal variations in aerosol optical properties over China

[1] Seasonal variations in background aerosol optical depth (AOD) and aerosol type are investigated over various ecosystems in China based upon three years’ worth of meteorological data and data collected by the Chinese Sun Hazemeter Network. In most parts of China, AODs are at a maximum in spring or summer and at a minimum in autumn or winter. Minimum values (0.10∼0.20) of annual mean AOD at 5...

Changes in Aerosol Optical and Micro-Physical Properties over Northeast Asia from a Severe Dust Storm in April 2014

This study focuses on analyzing the changes to aerosol properties caused by the dust storm called “China’s Great Wall of Dust” that originated from the Taklimakan Desert in April 2014. IDDI (Infrared Difference Dust Index) images from FY-2E and true color composite images from FY-3C MERSI (Medium Resolution Spectral Imager) show the breakout and transport path of the dust storm. Three-hourly gr...

Climate effects of dust aerosols over East Asian arid and semiarid regions

East Asia is a major dust source in the world. Mineral dusts in the atmosphere and their interactions with clouds and precipitation have great impacts on regional climate in Asia, where there are large arid and semiarid regions. In this review paper, we summarize the typical transport paths of East Asian dust, which affect regional and global climates, and discuss numerous effects of dust aeros...
